We are pleased to provide you with an overview about the special online activities of our PIRASTRO artists. You can also follow our PIRASTRO artists on Facebook, Instagram or Youtube to learn more about their online activities and show them your appreciation for their outstanding work during this difficult time.

Nicola Benedetti is offering great tutorial videos and more, published through her Youtube channel and website. As well the Benedetti foundation brought up some new virtual sessions, hold as mass tutorials for every kind of string player. Their first session in May 2020 was a big success. Now the Benedetti foundation has launched after school sessions every Tuesday & Thursday at 4 pm (BST).

Joshua Brown invites you to watch his live recorded concerts on his Youtube channel. By following his Instagram account you may get an inside view from his home practicing.

David Grimal, as founder and conductor of the orchestra “Les Dissonances”, presents new videos with his orchestra that haven’t been shown before on their Youtube channel. From June 19th to June 28th chamber ensembles of “Les Dissononances” are starting online concerts on francemusique.fr.

Ilya Gringolts invites you to enjoy some concert videos on his Youtube channel. During that difficult time he brought up to live the I&I Foundation which will take care for new composers. They will actively nurture creativity by commissioning up-and-coming composers from all over the world through their foundation.

Augustin Hadelich started a special video edition called “Ask Augustin” during his quarantine time. Together with the GliArchi Ensemble from Italy he performed remotely the fourth violin concerto by Nicolò Paganini, his favorite slow Paganini piece. Have a look on his Youtube channel.

Jonian Ilias Kadesha gives a view behind the scenes of his music on his Youtube channel.

Tim Kliphuis has recorded “The Five Elements”, a composition from him written in the crisis about the crisis. It is an epic filmic 30-minutes piece recorded with his Trio colleagues Nigel Clark and Roy Percy and nine top musicians from his hometown. As well he invites string players to join his Skype lessons, working on jazz violin/viola/cello and the gypsy jazz style of Stéphane Grappelli, but also on general improvisation principles. Natalie MacMaster and her husband Donnell Leahy are working on their next CD. They have created a summer challenge on this for YOU! Natalie and Donnell started a lovely melody that came quite naturally but getting into a second part required more effort. So they had this crazy thought of opening this piece up to YOU! If anyone is interested in a co-write with Natalie and Donnell, to finish the second part of the melody please find out more on her facebook page. “The COVID Co-write” challenge accepts submissions till midnight, July 31st, 2020.

Anastasiya Petryshak wants you to be a part of the audience when watching her wonderful concert videos on her Youtube channel.

Laurel Thomsen has published a blog text to learn more about a musicians thoughts in time of COVID-19.
